Okay, so why #1.1 post you many ask?? Simple – well at least in my mind it is lol – the reason for “.1″ is that this blog concerns the work of a designer who, apart from MIAMAI, has shown me so much support in the past weeks since being made redundant. Even though she is one of the most renowned jewellers on the grid and is probably inundated with blog requests and friendships she has taken time out of her day to ensure I do not “drop off” the blogging planet by sending me new releases and insisting I continue with my own blog
. So because of this I should have technically made her my debut post, but “#1.1″ sounds kind of unique and always sticks in my mind as being the better of the numbers
. Without further ado I would like to present a new item from…………………….. MS CAITHLIN CARTER.
Last weekend Ms Carter IM’ed to ask if i had started my blog yet to which I sadly uttered that I had not. So she said how about I blog her very latest release – something which she had promised was completely new for her. Well how could a girl decline ? and I waited expectantly for the little gem to arrive. Now CAITHLIN CARTER DESIGNS is renowned for it’s fine jewellery and gorgeous prim nail.ring combo’s so when the folder “CCD -Basic Shadow” arrived I was a little bamboozled. I then realised that a link to the blog had been sent my way which explained exactly what it was. Ms Carter had moved onto creating make-up tattoo’s for the Viewer 2. If I am honest my heart sank. I had heard so many bad things about the Viewer 2 that I had avoided installing it and I did not particularly want to either. However,I felt obliged to do so and if a girl ever needed a reason to download the viewer then this had to be it!! So i succombed to my inner fear and eventually installed it a few days ago.
What an absolute “pain in the a**e” was my immediate thought when I found myself logged into Viewer 2 for the first time. Everything just seemed “in the wrong place” and the fact I could not figure out how to turn voice off permanently was adding to my pent up frustration. Anyhow, after seeking advice from Ms Carter herself today I found out what all the fuss has been about. Just take a look at the picture above!
Now being an ebony girl I have always found make-up and skins to be a problem in SL – the range of decent ebony skins is so small and limited – but now I have found my guardian angel. These eye-shadows took my breath away. The range of colours is amazing and the majority of the tattoo layers look almost sparkling against my skin. I was lucky enough to be given 3 fatpacks to try out and yes, I took a photo of every shadow, but unfortunately I do not have the space (or skills) to add them on to one photo lol. So I decided to pick my three favourites from each pack.
Working from top to bottom on the photo:
1. Blue
2. Green
3. Turquoise
These are taken from the BASIC SHADOW Fatpack – a collection of 11 plain eye-shadows that accentuate the femininity of a woman by highlighting the inner eye with moonbeam shades, whilst the shading around the socket gives depth through subtlty. Loose paler colour is taken under the eye. This is the least flamboyant of all the ranges so will suit all girls – even those wall-flowers out there. Tip #1 – for caucasian ladies who just want a little “something” try the SMOKEY or SILVER variants.
4. #2
5. #4
6. #11
From the GLAM DUO Fatpack – these little beauties are absolutely amazing. I love the way Ms Carter has combined the colours to make the eyes pop out of the socket. Obviously I am not a girl who likes to be subtle in her make-up but my choices on SL have been limited, so this fatpack is my ultimate favourite. The use of highlights and shadowing is mesmerising, and the fact there is one colour on the upper eye, one under the eye and a blend of both at the corner means I cannot compliment this pack enough. Tip #2 – if you are pale caucasian I would advise you double check your confidence levels before buying this pack
7. Pink
8. Smoke
9. Yellow
All three taken from the SOFT SHADOW Fatpack. Now I would reccomend this pack to people (yes there are men in SL who would suit this make-up lol) who would like to have a “safe but not boring” set. Falling inbetween the BASIC and GLAM DUO sets, this range is perfect for day to nightwear as there is a little less vibrancy but a bit more allurement. As you can SMOKE it not very noticeable on my skin but I thought I would show it as it is the perfect shadow for the “come to bed eyes” look on paler ladies. Tip #3 – make sure your prim eyelashes fit perfectly as tattoo layers in general seem to magnify little faults.
Now if only they could fix the glitches in Viewer 2 and roll it out to everyone, or at least enable the users of the normal viewer to view these tattoo layers then this girl would be in make-up heaven. Never having to worry about being “the same” as someone else ever again. :b
